My laptop is pretty low spec, but I really enjoy gaming. It runs lower spec games (like half life 2) perfectly well, but when I try games with better graphics, they play, but they are very jerky. What I want to know is: are there are graphics cards, or even simple VRAM cards that can be placed into one of my laptop's RAM slots?
Can you think of another solution? Other than buying a new computer, I am busy putting together a KILLER desktop but it takes time to save money for the parts and I would like an alternative in the meantime.

I don't want to go the external route as that is likely more costly and I can't see it working too well.

Solution
Absolutely not. DIMM slots are for system.memory. That's it. The gpu will use what it needs of that, if anything. and memory won't be the issue. The issue is the GPU which you cannot change.

External gpus not based on thunderbolt are worthless. Don't waste your money. It is what it is till you buy a new system

Thanks, that's pretty much what I expected, but I was hoping...
