I have around $250 and my main objective is to play recent games. I'm not planning on overclocking nor SLI/Crossfire. I was thinking about buying a Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition or a GeForce GTX 660, which one is better?
Also, would it be worth it if I gather %50 more bucks to buy a better card? In this case, which card would be the best?
If it's possible, could you explain the reasons of your choices?
Thanks in advance.

Here's a review of the 7870XT(neutered 7950) vs a 660Ti

Edit: Some people will say AMD drivers are buggier, I would have been one of those people last year. Until I bought my 7950 and started using the "buggy drivers" only to realize they were less buggy then the ones I had been using for my 560Ti(s). This is strictly from a gaming point of view.

I do have an occasional issue with .mpg videos AND Windows Media Player, a BSOD "system_service_exception" but it's only with WMP and Mpeg videos. I can watch the same video with MPC or VLC and have no issue. Since it only happens with WMP I'm unsure of whom to blame, AMD or Microsoft.

Man if AMD Radeon HD drivers are buggy then nvidia would be run out of business if AMD got their drivers any better performing LOL.

For $250($235 after MIR), get the Sappire 7870 XT. It's essentially a 7930. It's out of stock on newegg right now, but the PowerColor version is in stock:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

It's slightly more, and has only 1 fan, but besides that it's the same card.

If you wanna spend a little more, you can get this 7950 for $270 after MIR:

The 7870 MYST/XT is good enough though, you only gain like 5% performance by going to the 7950, although the game bundle includes Crysis 3 instead of Tomb Raider, if that's something that would change your mind.
