Hi,

I have a AMD 7950 connected via HDMI to my monitor and sometimes to a plasma TV. Unfortunately I cannot get HDCP to work via the HDMI connection. If I use the DVI connection then I assume I will lose the HD audio bitstream as DVI can only transfer video to the home cinema receiver. Is there any possibilty of transferring the HDCP hdmi connection from the AMD 7950?

Seems a major oversight to not have HDCP work with the HDMI port.

Thanks
Haider

HDCP is mufti-faceted....it requires HDCP compliance in GPU, cable and monitor. When you switch the monitors, cables and/or GPU, it may require you to run setup again to verify compliance....Microsoft isn't very friendly on this one....

My TV is HDCP compliant. HDMI cable doesn't really matter as long as it's high speed, it will support everything 3D, 1080P etc. From what I looked on the AMD site the DVI port is HDCP compliant but no mention was made on the HDMI port...

DVI and HDMI should both be compliant. The issue may be with windows - especially if you are switching monitors/cables often. Windows media center will require setup to be run sometimes when you switch.

Hmmm tried on separate monitor and it works. Have to try again on the plasma. I ran the PowerDVD update again. I don't think it updated coprrectly last time. I think it's a Cyber Link PowerDVD 10 issue.

Just my opinion....but I personally think the Cable Companies/Movie Studios have a big influence on the code required to do anything on a PC...they want hardware like a standard DVD player or BluRay player....and they want everything to be in approved cable boxes that only the cable companies can provide. It's a racket....
