I am looking to upgrade the PC I currently use for video editing. I will be using Adobe Premiere Elements 11 for mostly light editing / DVD creation. I am currently using an AMD-A8 with a Sapphire HD 6850. I am looking to go Intel since most articles and forums agree they are better for what I'm doing. I'm considering upgrading to an i7 3770k and adding a GeForce GTX 660 but funds don't support that fully right now. I have several different options to be able to afford this upgrade and would like to know your opinions on which is the best.

1. Upgrade to i7 3770K and stick with the Sapphire until more fund are availabe and / or I catch a GTX 660 on sale

2. Upgrade to an i5 3570k and a GTX 660

3. Upgrade to i7 3770K and don't worry about the GTX 660 because the performance / stability increase won't be noticable. Wait until the next level up becomes affordable (through funds or sales)

For the 3rd option I would say if switching to GTX 660 would only drop rendering time for a 45 minute video by 5 - 10 minutes then it's probably not worth it. However I have had my machine crash consistently when encoding DVDs so if the GTX will help with that then it would be worth it to me (btw. I suspect Windows 8 is more at fault for this then the video card which is why I'm going back to 7.)

Suggestions on the options or any ideas outside of those will be very much appreciated.

Solution
short answer: upgrade to a gtx 660 this will almost reduce your rendering time by 40%.
meaning if a clip was rendered in 10mins
it will probably be done under 6 mins

this is not exact can vary but the difference the nvidia can make is significant..

intel is a good choice , but processer will not matter incase you are rendering with an nvidia card.

This statement has no basis in fact.
