This is my first build, and I would really appreciate any advice on the components that I have chosen. Being a college student, I would like to go down in price if anything, but without compromising much with regard to performance.

The parts I have chosen are:

CPU: AMD FX-6100 3.3 GHz 6-core ($109.99- TigerDirect.com)

Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 LE AM3+ ($79.99- Newegg)

Graphics Card: EVGA SSC GTX 650 Ti ($145.00- Amazon)

Memory: G. Skill Sniper Series 8 GB [2 x 4GB] ($66.99- Newegg)

HDD: Seagate Barracuda STBD2000101 2TB 7200 RPM ($104.99- Newegg)

Power Supply: Corsair CX600M 600W Modular ($59.99- Newegg)

DVD R/W: Asus 24x DVD Burner ($19.99- Newegg)

Card Reader: Koutech 10-RCM621 ($16.99- Newegg)

Case: Cooler Master Elite 430 ($53.26- Amazon)

Wireless Adaptor: Rosewill RNX-N250 PC2 ($19.99- Newegg)

I really would appreciate any replies. I would like to run programs such as solidworks and video editing software without any problems.

Thank You!!

Yeah but the Phenom X6 hasn't been in production for nearly two years now. The FX-6300 has replaced the X6. You probably won't be able to find any without resorting to eBay. The FX-6300 or i3-3220 are your best bets for CPUs in this price range.

On the original build that card reader is junk, and I'd get a Corsair 200R or Antec 302 over an Elite 430. And the Radeon 7790 is better than the GTX 650 TI.
