Hello everybody,
I am goint to buy a server for using a small project database hosting purpose. which will contain 1000000 student information and it will be using for 5 years. I am going to buy Six core E5-2630 2.3GHz with 16GB RAM and 600GB SAS HD. Now i cant decide whether the single or dual cpu will be best. Can I manage my task with Single processor? please ans me.

Also you didn't mention what database application you plan on using most license per CPU

I think you can get away with one CPU since your not running multiple instantes on that server.

oh though you may want to use the money you were going to spend on the extra CPU and dual slot BM to come with a back up solution for the database. Even if you back up the database base to disk you want to have some sort of off the machine backup.
