Now, I've done a bit of googling, and I only post a question as a last resort.

I recently built a computer and I had two old laptop hdd's that I wanted to pull information off of for nostalgia. I did it for the older one (2006-ish) but for the more recent one, not so much luck.

When I changed the SATA ports and power cable to the the one I wanted to do now, I booted up my computer but the drive is labeled as "sq004725v01 (E:) " in my computer. And it says I don't have access to it when I try to click into it.

I then went into the BIOS to check to see if there was a disk drive recognized there, but no. Although, if right clicked into sq004725v01, and went to hardware, the harddrive I needed shows up.

I've already gone into security and switching ownership, but to no avail.

Can anyone help?

Sounds to me like the OEM for the laptop it came from has configured the HDD to prevent use in another computer. I'd call them and ask for a solution.
