Hello, Let me start by saying im not looking to upgrade , or buy anything other than a vcard for this motherboard in particular, reason, im dirt poor and this is all i can handle , having said that, my motherboard is the IPILP-LC (Lancaster 8) http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c01285437
the Motherboard has a ram limit of 2 gb
im running a 32 bit OS(don't want to go to 64 it seems pointless on this pc)
i want to know if my motherboard will be able to handle a 1 gb or a 2 gb vcard, i already figured out the best vcard for this pc its going to have to be the gt 630, why? well i got a 460 power supply 12v 18a, a pcie v1.0 (which means im stuck with vcards made for 2.0)
the reason i ask:
while doing my online search for what would be the best vcard for my pc,
i came across some rather confusing advice ,and alot of people contradicting each other haha.
this is a summary of the advice:
some would state that the 32 bit os limit is under 4gb (which i already new) plus they where ignoring the fact that my motherbaord handles no more than 2 gb!
that being said, the limitation would be the combination of total system memory 2gb of ram + 2gb of vcard ram = 4 gb system memory
OK if that is the case how would that translate over to my motherboards 2gb limit?
then others would say that vcard memory and pc ram don't interact with each other so their shouldn't be a system conflict, sigh
well its been like that for me the whole week not a single solid straight answer,
please HELP! thanks in advance
