Hey everyone, thought I felt confident enough to O/C and tried to adjust some settings in my BIOS (I have a ECS P67H2A2, works with ivy bridge after bios update)

My CPU frequency was at 100 MHz I believe, so I tried to up it to 120 and my ratio was at 34 I think, so I tried to change it to 35. Kind of dumb, because I think that's 4.2Ghz, but I think I needed to adjust my voltage. Problem was, My PC would reboot after a few seconds and I couldn't even get into BIOS.. I Think I disabled turbo mode too. Can anyone help me out to get a stable O/C

EDIT: Well, first I need to get my computer to start up!! I can't get it to connect to monitor :/

I did this, doing again but unplugging the PSU cable. What did I change to screw this up so bad? Using an aftermarket cooler (CMhyper 212+)

Once you get back in (do you have CMOS reset switch?), you really need to leave the BCLK alone - the best gains come just from changing the multiplier in SB and IB. Only mess with BCLK if you are trying for a max overclock.

Edit: Where did you find a guide that recommended changing the BCLK?

just the wrong settings can cause this issue. BCLK most likely is where you went wrong. The BCLK most likely also changes the RAM speed. the ram being set wrong won't allow for you to even boot into the bios on some boards. to prevent this many company's have added second bios and bios reset buttons to easily get back to a running state.

EDIT: sry should have mentioned to unplug the system.

Success!!! shorting out Me_unlock was able to get me back into bios to revert changes. Although clearing cmos and my cmos reset button did nothing.

I was confused on the BLCK and thought it was something else because I saw someone changing 2 things including the multiplier in another video. In voltage I can only either leave on auto or increase + there is no - where i want like -0.065 etc. Am I thinking somehting else too? Should I leave it on auto until necessary? And should turbo mode stay off?

Hey so my PC went to sleep after a bit. And on resume I i powered on my PC like normal. But it actually took 3 attempts to actually start up and resume windows. Leading me to believe I should change something.

When I turned it off and on though it booted fine. there issues when turning PC back on from sleep mode?

Hey guys, something very similar happened to me. My BIOS was smart and reset itself, Did this damage it? It's running fine these days, but still, did this do any damage? Later, I was reapplying thermal paste because I did a sloppy job. I accidentally pulled the whole thing out, CPU & cooler, without undoing the brace. Did I damage it?

Benchmarks are same, temps are better, no problems, is there any unseen damage?
