I'm looking for more opinions before I buy, so in your opinion, would these work well with each other, and have you received any good/bad experiences with any of these parts?

ASUS P8Z77-V

INTEL i5 3570k

Corsair Vengeance 16 GB : 2 x 8 GB Memory

A 650 watt power supply

GeForce GTX 660

and a 1 TB hp HDD carried over from a previous computer, but probably another, most likely a 64 gb ssd

I would personally go with an AsRock z77 Extreme 4 over the Asus, just because the AsRock has more features and better overclocking capability. (It does cost a bit more, though.)

You don't need 16GB of ram - 8GB is enough to simultaneously run battlefield 3, photoshop, AND 30 tabs in chrome.

You need a 550w power supply max, but make sure it's a good quality one - the power supply is the most important part of your computer.

Try to upgrade your graphics card a little if you can - the 7870 XT is a very good card, performance/dollar wise.

Yeah I agree but find a sapphire Radeon 7870 xt since they have the best cooling solution for the xt's. Though they are harder to find in stock over the powercolor xt.
