Okay I am builing my own system and I think I have everything solidified up to the graphics card, which I am still not sure about. Here are the specs on the computer I plan on building:

Processor: Intel Core i7 3770K @ 3.50GHz
Hard drives: 256 GB SSD and a 1 or 2 TB standard drive
CPU Cooler:Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard:Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Memory:Corsair Vengeance LP 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Case:Antec Nine Hundred ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply:XFX 750W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply

My budget for the graphics card: within the 400-500 dollar range, but willing to go higher if needed.

So far I sm considering the GTX 670, AMD Radeon 7970 and 7970 GHz edition. Also, for the GTX cards should I go with 2 GB or 4 GB of memory do you think? Thanks.

By the way, I forgot to add that I will be running 1 monitnor at 1080p most of the time, if that affects anything. The only hesitations I have about the 7970 is that there were some reviews about it that said it got really hot and also was loud and made high frequency noises sometimes. Also the Radeons don't have the Physx technologly, which I am not sure if that is acutally better or if it is just a label for Nvidia marketing.

The 7970's do run a bit hotter then the 680's and a few do suffer from coil whine(only every heard of the issue never seen it yet). For the heat just get one with a non reference heatsink like Sapphires vapor-x. Alot of games don't even use Physx.

Ok I think I will go with the Sapphire vapor-x 7970 ghz edition, but I am still a bit worried about coil whine. Do you own one of these cards? Anyone else had this issue? Also, is the built fan on the card enough?

I don't, currently using 3 gtx 580's in my rig(haven't seen any reason to upgrade with the current gen). I have built a couple rigs with them used a Sapphire vapor X and an XFX double D didnt hear any coil whine on either of them. Usually the manufacture will RMA the card for coil whine especially when its at an annoying level.
