So, I have a netgear dgn2000 adsl2+ router, as I need a router AND a modem. I flashed it with DGteam firmware and changed it to be a modem only instead of both the router and modem combination. How would I connect the netgear "modem" to any Linksys/Cisco router? The reason I want to do this is because I want to flash the Linksys router with DD-WRT or Tomato for various reasons, as you can't flash any ADSL router with those firmwares.

If your ADSL has an ethernet port, connect that to the input ethernet port of the Linksys and you should be good to go.

Presumably the same way you’d connect any other modem, from its LAN port to the router's WAN port. Obviously a standalone modem would typically only have a single LAN (or they might call it WAN, some do) port. Regardless, I'm assuming if you flashed it to remove the routing functions, it doesn't matter which LAN port on the dgn2000 you use. And I assume you’ll either have to complete the PPPoE connection (w/ username/password) w/ the new modem firmware, or bridge it to the Linksys and perform the PPPoE connection there.

So what you're saying is to connect the routers using a ethernet cable? Like an ethernet cable into a ethernet port then the other end of the cable to the router ethernet port.

The DGTeam firmware saves all your settings, so no need for logging into PPPoE again but for the new linksys router I will have to.

Like eibgrad said - ASDL (now a modem) WAN/LAN out to Linksys (router) WAN/LAN in. When you flashed your ADSL, the router portion disappeared. It is now a "traditional" modem, and you are feeding its output to your wireless router.

I do not have a solution but I do have a question. I recently purchased a new Desk Top wih a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 motherboard. It is up and running but I cannot figure out how to connect it to the internet. I have a Linksys router and connected an Ethernet cable from the back of the PC to the Ethernet input on the router. However, I still cannot get it to connect through the router to the internet. The Ethernet worked fine with the old PC. Help needed!!!!
