CPU memory type1066Mhz and 1600 memory module

as long as your motherboard has options to down clock the ram then it will work at the 1066 speed. Precaution though, some ram is not compatible with certain motherboards. This is why they release a QVL list for Ram. Ram can be down clocked but not always be overclocked.

why would you want to do this though?

Yes it can work, pc-12800 ram (1600mhz) support pc-10666 (1333mhz) speed...

It will Down clocked automatically to 1333mhz..

edit: u even can get better timing (performance) when it down clocked to 1333mhz.
but u may need to set it manually on BIOS. (that a story for another day)

thanks for your reply.

i already have a motherboard ASUS P8H61-M LX R2.0 that supports dual-channel DDR3 2200(O.C)/2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1866(O.C)/1600/1333/1066MHz un-buffered memory... i plan to install intel pentium G645 CPU for now that supports 1066MHz memory type only and a higher frequency memory(1600 or higher) for CPU upgrade in the future..i want to make sure that the CPU can run it and do no harm/damage.

yes it will work. that motherboard has the ability to down clock the ram so you will be fine. Just keep in mind that if the ram timings will need to be dropped also. If the auto set, sets the timings you will be fine but if not then you will have to look up the the rated timing for your memory and set them manually.

The normal timings for ram @ 1066 is 5-5-5-18-23 but usually can be tightened to 5-5-5-15-20

you will most likely have to manually down clock the ram to force it to the 1066 speed as the auto set want to set it to the max.
