Why am I dropping down to 29 fps when playing Star wars the old republic? I'm on the highest settings and lowering the settings doesn't do much. Sometimes I get 60 fps, but when I'm in cities or certain areas, it drops down to 30-40ish. I have the latest drivers installed and an i7 3770k. I ran 3dmark 11 just to check if it was fine and I scored pretty well compared to others. (I was around average or a little above). And I get 60 fps on battlefield 3 and almost NEVER drop below 60 and if I do, it's only dropping to 57-59 for a second. And that's VERY rare. So what could the issue be? Thanks in advance. :)

bad driver, definitely a bad driver... that game doesn't need your hardware... i'm running it on highest settings and pulling in 50-60fps with a PhII x4 965 and a 9800GT.

So what you're saying is that the driver didn't install correctly? Or the driver just isn't optimized for swtor?

either one or the other.

there are some games I have to play with older drivers... for example... i can't play the original mass effect with the current nvidia drivers. it simply crashes to the desktop. i've got to play it with 4 year old drivers.

just how it is sometimes

that said, it could be a bad install.

granted, its a different GPU, but i'm using the 311.06 WHQL built. I know that's not the latest drivers, so you might want to look into rolling yours back if the reinstall doesn't work.

I'll be reinstalling the driver and then rolling back if it doesn't work. Thanks for being so helpful :)  I'll post the results afterwards.

Well that was dissapointing. I'm getting better fps in cities (But the SWTOR servers were upgraded this morning so I think it's a coincidence) but in combat I'm still dropping to the mid 40s and the fps meter is red so It's apparently still the gpu. :(

check the SWTOR forums. there have got to be people there with your gpu/cpu, who can point you to the best combo of settings and drivers.

I'm pretty sure i have AA turned off for me... and my resolution certainly isn't 1080p (its an older monitor)... but that's because i knew my gpu wouldn't push out the fps needed to max my monitor. but still your hardware is so far better then mine i know there is a magic mix you can use to bump that up. ask around the tech forums. someone will point you to the right drivers/settings
