My first PC build attempt, help?

get a FX8320, same price, many times better performance, the psu is junk... that MB won't overclock well, i assume you're getting an amd because you can overclock it... that mb won't do it well... that cpu cooler is crap... get a hyper evo 212, the high end FX need better cpu coolers then that... the base 650 is a crappy gpu... if you're building this to be a gaming machine you'll regret spending that money on a cpu, and neglecting the gpu.

assuming this is being built on a budget give us a number, i'm sure someone can put together a better, more reliable system for your number.

I have to keep it under $700. Was thinking about getting the 650 ti instead. What would be a better psu for around that same price? Is overclocking complicated? I initially looked at the intel i5 but I saw on cpubenchmark.net a comparison saying that the fx8150 scored higher. Would I be better off dropping back on the CPU and bumping up the GPU?

pretty much the same as the build above... only sporting a cpu cooler... otherwise this is about the best you can get for $700

Thanks guys. Just curious what GPU would be a step below the 7870 xt? What is the best under $200? I obviously want 8gb of RAM, but is it better to have 2x4gb or just 1x8gb?

yes. the first gen 8150 is outperformed in pretty much every benchmark by the 2nd gen 6300 (6 core)... and the 2nd gen 8320 (8 core).

there is a reason people kept suggesting those chips. they're better... much better.
