On finish screen it wont take me to start of windows

I have recieved my dads old harddrive it has windowxp service pack 2...its a hp and it has its backup disk partitioned in a drive..anyhow made it all the way till last screen it says finish so i push the finish button and nothing waiting waiting....

Need to explain a bit better as to what is happening. Harddrive or computer? What do you mean by "backup disk", do you mean the restore partition? What "made it all the way" exactly? Did you do a system restore?

If it does not work properly, could be a RAM issue or a hard drive issue, along with some smaller chances of several other things. Try different RAM, you may need to try a new hard drive as well, and use an XP disk to install Windows.
