I have a home built system, AMD Phenom 4 core CPU, 500gb sata HD primary partitioned to give me a dual boot with win 7 and XP, with two IDE 80 gb HDD's on cable select as additional storage. my problem is that both these drive appear in the bios and in computer management but windows explorer does not see them. In "management" these drives are listed but do have a drive letter allocated, when I right click on them the drop down menu the only option usable is "delete volume" the rest are greyed out. I cannot use these drives this is were help is needed.

The problem is that the OS does not recognize the volume info, and, in order to use them you will have to delete the existing volumes and reformat the drives. If you have to get anyuthing off the drives, you will need to do so before deleting the volumes.
