I run a small IT services business. right now it's out of my home, so a corner of my basement is set up for server staging and for my servers. It's all small business stuff, so no huge power draws. I'd like to be able to power my equipment and any staged/testing equipement. My equipment currently includes:

-Dell PowerEdge T110 II with a Core i3 2100 and no frills and a few HDDs
-an old repurposed celeron for a Linux server
-a small 4-bay NAS

I'd like to size this to support the following addional devices
- small NAS or Windows Home Server units like the HP N54L or a 4-6 bay NAS
- 1 small to medium small business server.

I don't need any of this to run for anything more than just long enough to shut down safely. How should I go about sizing this? Any specific advice? right now I do not have a rack set up though I plan to in the coming year. So, I suppose this could be a rack-mounted or floor unit.
Thanks.

Found several guides on google.

You will need to read the stickers on the power supplies to get the volts, amps, watts. Then plug them into the calculators shown.

OOF. LMGTFY bit me in the hind end just now.

I did that to a degree, and I know I'm shooting at a moving target. Since I can only be sure about a few of the devices, I was hoping someone would have a good recommendation from the same type of situation. However, you're probably right. I probably just need to do my best guessing and size a bit large.

Thank you for being kind. You had all the right to give me the link.

Any advice as to whether a rack mount not in a rack or a floor standing is better when I don't yet have a rack and won't for a few months or so?

A little bit of homework and calculation will benefit you in the long run.

For small installations like you are describing I've used floor based UPS without a problem (unless you expect a flood). I've even used rack trays to set the UPS up off the floor.

Sounds like I'm over-thinking this. I've done quite a bit of reading and was sort of afraid to make the wrong decision. Sounds like the direction I was leaning from the start is about right. I'll post back when I choose a model, which likely now won't happen for a few weeks due to cashflow.
Thanks again.

Just a guess, 900 watt would probably be enough, or a little higher if you want more capacity. Saw some 900 watt for about $150.
