I recently purchased a GeForce GTX 660 to upgrade my existing 2x GeForce 6800 cards. However when I plug it in I'm getting 1 long beep and 2 short from my BIOS which indicates incorrectly seated graphcis card or faulty.
I've tried the GTX660 on my somes newer PC and it works fine, and also tried his graphcis card in my machine which still does 1 long beep 2 short.
I don't think it's the power supply because it's 750W and I've tried updating the BIOS but latest version is still only 2008 from official Acer website. Not sure if the motherboard manufacturer has later ones as the G7700 BIOS is a custom one by Acer.
Does anyone have any recommendations on things I can try without having to look at getting a new motherboard etc?
Yeah I removed both 9600 cards and in the BIOS there is no option to set default graphics adapter. It looks like the custom BIOS they put on removes a lot of settings to adjust. I was wondering if that could be the issue, on other forums people said the Acer mobo is based on the MSI P7N Diamond board. Was considering trying to flash that BIOS to my motherboard but I don't know if it'll work or not.
I would first try to locate the manual (they only have a generic manual online and it says nothing about the bios in it) and follow the steps for reseting the bios, usually it is just unplug power, remove the cmos battery and move the cmos jumper one pin over and then back.
Tried with the last BIOS update I did, was only about 2 weeks difference from my original so didn't try it, gave it another shot and it worked! Never expected BIOS update within that time period to sort it out. Whooohoo!!! So happy. Thanks Randini.
