How good are LC Power PSUs? I bought a Corsair CX600M and the damn screws won't align, so I will try to return it and get another one. The store has mostly Thermaltake and LC Power ones.

More about : power psus

LC? Never heard of it. No name junk brand. I have to think if the Corsair will not fit the nothing else will either. Power supplies are made to the ATX standard. Some can be too long for some cases but the screws not aligning does not make sense unless you have an oddball non ATX case.

A fella told me to flip the PSU upside down. Didn't try it. You think it'll work?

If the case is slightly out of plumb (not perfectly square) or the PSU is installed upside down - the screws won't align....

The Chieftec GPS 500AB A I had aligned properly. I know Corsair is a great brand, but.. I don't get why this is happening.

Try installing the PSU upside down and see if the screw holes align....you might have it installed "upside down"....If they are slightly different (1-2mm), then it could be the case not being plumb....but if it is more....it is probably upside down.

If it's not plumb, how come a PSU of the exact same size fit before? Chieftec ain't that bad. Btw my tower has something like a frame for the PSU, which you can unscrew and flip it.

The Corsair CX600M is a good power supply....The shipping/handling/storage of the products could have resulted in the case being slightly out of plumb....I have never had one be seriously off....

What case do you have? I have had a few older cases with adaptor plates for the power supply. Does yours have one? Just like a metal back plate that can be removed?

I have a Casetek CK something. And yes, it does have one.

Have you tried the PSU without that bracket?

No. The screw holes for the PSU are on this bracket. What's gonna hold the PSU?

I suppose you have tried the bracket in every position it could possibly mount in? Cases and power supplies ( and motherboards ) are made to a standard called ATX to prevent things like this from happening. So if both case and power supply are ATX ( and I am positive the power supply is ) it should fit.

Both are ATX. But it just doesn't work. You think my case is faulty? I'll try to replace it, but what if the next one is the same too? Oh well..

I don't know what to tell you. I don't guess your power supply can be mounted 'upside down' ? Some of the better cases mount power supplies so they can pull in fresh air from outside the case. These cases will generally have a cutout or a grill with a fan filter so the intake fan can pull in fresh, cooler air from outside the case.
