So I don't want to spend a ton, and I came across this computer:

Gateway DX4380-UW308
http://us.gateway.com/gw/en/US/content/model/DT.GE3AA.001

It has an AMD A6-5400k 3.6 GHz Dual Core, 6gb RAM (upgradable to 16gb), 1tb HDD, USB 3.0 and HDMI Ports and Windows 8

I can get it refurbished directly from Acer for only 325 at the moment.

I want to add either an AMD Radeon 7770 GHz edition 1gb GDDR5, the PSU is 300W so that should be enough, I can definitely get a better one if necessary.

What I don't know is how much the CPU being a dual core is going to hold me back and I'm not sure if the APU can be upgraded to a quad or six core later.

Anyways, I think this is pretty good deal for under 450 bucks total. I'm not trying to build a crazy gaming rig, but I do want it to at least be able to run battlefield 3 on high, and maybe crysis 3 on medium at least 720p.

Would appreciate any advice because right now this is by far the best deal I can get. I could build a computer or get one from Ava Direct but I don't want to spend 550 dollars or even 500 so...

You should not need a different power supply for either of those video cards if the system has a 300 watt one. And with that CPU and lower end video card, you don't have to worry about upgrading the system. To upgrade, you'd have to change the CPU, video card and RAM, by the time you get around to that, the whole thing will be obsolete for gaming. You really should look at building your own system for that much http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/pc-gaming-overclock-build-a-pc,3443.html

What you picked will be OK for lower quality and resolutions but is really a dead end with upgrades.
