Hi I have just recently built a gaming pc and my graphics card is making strange noises whenever I start up Halo 2. Also the temperature of the graphics card rises from 30 to 60 degrees in about 45 seconds (I have used two separate programs to confirm the temperature spike). All of this happens while I am on the title screen and not even playing the game. The graphics card has never gone above 45 degrees and runs fine with every other game I play (Arma 2, Halo CE, etc). The card is brand new and I have only had it for about two weeks. I have not OC'ed the card so the stability is not an issue. Any help would be appreciated. I really don't want to destroy the card while playing Halo 2.

ASUS P8Z77-V LE PLUS
EVGA GTX 670
Corsair 850TX
Intel core i7 3770k

If you want to know anything else just let me know.

Try to force vsync in the Nvidia control panel It will limit the games frame rate.

Chances are the games age means it runs at insanely high frame rates.

The sound you hear may be coil whine. It does not hurt the card is just a side effect of the high speed switching in pc power(this frequency changes with load.).

^ Plus the GTX 670 can run 70c without any problems. If memory servers correctly the GTX670 will start lowering the Core speed when it gets above 70c you should be fine I would not worry about it to much.

I have 2 Gigabyte GTX 670's in SLI and have hit 70c a few times but usually my cards stay around 60-70c in heavy graphics games and that is running Nvidia Surround on 3 Asus 27" monitors at 5760x1080.

Unless you are exceeding 70c your hardware will be just fine.
