Hi,

I am looking for a Racing wheel for around $125. I will mainly be playing the F1, the current 2012 version and future versions as well. But sometimes I might play other games. I play on the PC, and I like to look for durability as I don't want to replace this for a few years. I will also accept used wheels if those wheels offer great performance boost. I also like the Feedback I get from riding over bumps and going around corners. I don't really use the Gear Stick shifters as I prefer paddles, especially for a game like F1. But a Gear Stick would be a nice add-on, as I may get bored of the same game. I wont really use the buttons on the driving force gt if I really get that wheel. Although they look nice, it is unlikely that I would use them regularly.

Originally I would definetly go for the Logitech DFGT, however I found the Thrustmaster to be better in every way except for 900 degrees rotation. However as a F1 2012 fan, it is unlikely that I will turn that much. I will never play something like OMSI. I really like the fact that the Thrustmaster is way better looking, has actual paddles instead of buttons, no dead spot and more resistant pedals. However, Logitech seems like a more reliable brand which relates back to the point that I wont want to change for a few more years. I've heard that Thrustmaster wheels have some functional problems after a few years of use, but that seems to have changed for the new F430 wheel. Build Quality looks excellent, but I want to hear from members who have had this wheel for a while and report about any problems.

Wheels:
Logitech Driving Force GT
Thrustmaster Ferrari F430 Force Feedback Wheel

Wheels that I may buy second hand:
Logitech G27/G25
Possibly Fanatec?

Thanks for reading and please tell me your opinions on these wheels and which one I should buy. Also suggest other wheels! Thanks.

i have this one/Thrustmaster Ferrari F430..........feels good. over 3.5 years no problems. feels good in hands.

friend has the logitech with the clutch ( 3 pedal ). wheel feels like cheap plastic hula hoop. he paid about 250 for it..... hahahahaha on him.

don't know about the third wheel. I also never played F1 so don't know the feel of that game.

If your friend has the 3 clutch Logitech and he paid 250, its the G27. Also what do you think is bad about your wheel? for example: pedals too soft, steering to slow, etc.

I think the base could be a little wider, (Big feet or big shoes). Like "all" other wheels I have sat in front of........ bigger rubber underneath to keep in one place on floor. But it's really not that big of a problem. Wheel feels really good in hands. Better than the one in my car....LOL. If you don't set the wheel up in "easy" mode and you're a "raw" racer, you can get good feed back from the car and from the track. But the games themselves do vary in that respect. ( coding I guess )
