Ram not working right

i bought a 2X2Gb rams (U-MAX Pulsar DDR2)and it it not working right. I tried to put it in different slots but still only show as 2Gb. here is the link to my pc.http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/R/1014670R/1014670Rsp3.shtml

Ok, this may sound silly, but have you installed them in alternate slots?

that is if you think of your RAM slots as 1 2 3 4

install in either 1 and 3 or in 2 and 4... but not in 1 and 2
