Hi,

Over the past few days I've been experiencing frequent disconnects from online game servers (Mount & Blade, JC2MP). These happen every few minutes. As far as I can tell this may be something to do with ping, or packet loss.

I've tried playing these games online without a firewall, but I still get disconnected.

Can someone help me determine where the problem is (my router/modem or with the ISP etc)?

Thanks.

You should probably start with having your ISP and ask them to troubleshoot any problems from their end. I know what I had Comcast for example, they once were able to tell me the single to my modem was bad and sent out a contractor to fix my cable line... took forever though. If you don't want to go through all that, I would suggest looking into your router, but you can't be for sure until you eliminate possible causes.

It's worth checking your DHCP lease time. If it's too short it will have your PC's IP address released then renewed at set intervals, thus dropping the connection in the process.

You can check by clicking start > typing cmd in the search bar and press enter > then in the command line, type ipconfig /all and press enter.

Let us know what the lease time is set to
