What software do you use? Some is better multi-threaded than others, although nowadays finally most are at least decently supported. I don't know how much the extra 2 cores is going to give you for choosing the 2011 socket and the $600 CPU over a $250 3770K and OC'ing it or even an AMD 8000 series with 8 true cores.

I run Presonus stuido one on an older AMD 6 core Phenom and it's hard to max it out unless you go plugin stupid, but you can kill any PC, even a dual Xeon going plugin stupid if you want to. lol.

I will use studio one too with komplete 8.I have find a retailer with very good prices and instead to pay 1550eurw for the system i will pay only 1200 thats why i choose the 3930K because of very good price of it and i dont wanna upgrade for next 5 years and im sure that 3930k will last for so long and more. And if u read some threatds about daws u will see that 3930K is about 40% better than 3770K in DAW (Check adkproaudio benchmarks).Ofcourse 3770K is more than enough for me now but as i said i dont wanna upgrade for next 5 years thats why i choose the more powerfull cpu.

Ah, been a while since I benchmarked any CPU's for a new DAW. Built an I7 for my friends studio a while ago and he's still rocking with it. Studio one is pretty well multithreaded, so it should take advantage of the extras the 3930 has to offer then. 64bit mode, it's a beast as well.

Motherboard looks decent, all the latest goodies on it, solid state caps for power, etc, so you should be good to go and rocking out music.

The main problem I've found with DAW's is the audio interface you're using vs the motherboard. Was a bigger issue with firewire systems back in the day and the easiest thing was to just buy a pci or pci-e card that is known to work with your interface and run it off that. Since most MB's don't have a firewire port anymore, if your interface is firewire, you're going to need a firewire card anyways.

I would LOVE to see GPU acclerated plugins come out. They could do some serious processing on a GPU.
