Hello,

So I have a rather good internet connection downstairs on average 40-50Mbps but I do most of my work in a converted loft/attic the problem is the internet connection in there is really poor. I mean I can do basic web browsing but if I decided to watch a video on Youtube or on Netflix it will take forever to load. I also play on my xbox and ps3 there as well and have never really been able to play online due to my poor connection.

So my question is what can I buy to get a better connection in this room I have been looking at powerline adapters and wireless n router extenders but I don't really know much about them so I would really like any help you could give me. Thanks.

Solution
Where is the router located in the house - approximately how far away is it - and what obstructions are there around? (floors, walls, electronics etc...) Wireless N will give you some boost - but if you are looking to watch HD video, I would suggest looking at the powerline adapters - as it will give you a steady connection.

My router is currently at the bottom of the stairs on a small table, there really isn't much around it besides a bike which I hand on my wall. Im not sure of the distance between the router and the room but my house is very high and has rather thick floors. Is there any powerline adapters that you would suggest.

Don't waste your money on any of the products. install a data point is the best option. any other option is to improve the wireless signal but will never solve your problem.
