Specs:
i5 3570k
gigabyte z77x d3h (f16 uefi - latest stable)
8gb corsair vengeance (1 stick, XMP enabled)
hyper 212 evo
So ive tried for days now to bump up my 3570k to 4.4ghz which i hear is the 'sweet spot' for many with this chip. Got to 4 ghz with vcore @ 1.18v which already seems high compared to other oc-ers on this forum but still reasonable. To get to 4.2ghz i need to give about 1.28v and 4.3 @ 1.35 which as far as i know is crazy high, along with giving me temps touching 100C on prime(@4.3ghz) which is definitely not acceptable. 4.4 @ same vcore fails to boot.
At this point im thinking the chip i bought is just not that good and as far as oc-ing goes, way below average. Though i am willing to admit this is my first time ocing and i might be doing something monumentally wrong. If my chip is indeed bad, i can still get it replaced as im still covered by the 30 day replacement warranty (though it will be an effort), hence this post.
Either way, i definitely need help resolving this.
