Hello,
I recently had my 7950 fail on me. I've been using a 6850 I had lying around while I've been waiting to get it back, and it's been serving well.
I think CrossFire would be a good thing to try out, just to have some experience with it, so I'm wondering if it would be possible to link the two cards together.
The 6850 is an ASUS one. EAH6850 DC/2DIS/1GD5
The 7950 is also an ASUS card. HD7950-DC2T-3GD5
My motherboard is a GA-990FXA-UD3
Physically, I should be able to fit the cards on, so the question is software compatibility. These charts on the FAQ suggest that the cards wouldn't work together.
I've looked into CrossFire a bit, and I've seen some stuff about both cards needing the same clock speeds and other similar settings. Could this mean that it is possible, but the 7950 would be crippled enough that it wouldn't be useful?
Thanks for your time!
