What CPU for gaming is better?

In most games the Q6600 will be faster unless the games can only use 1 or 2 cores then the e5800 will be faster.

depends on the game. if your motherboard and cooling is decent, the q6600 with an overclock would be your best bet. but at this point, with both chips being relatively old, they will both struggle on the newer games.
Yeah my mobo is not the best it doesnt come stock with a bios over clocking feature from asus. But i did find one someone made from here with an AI overclocking menu but its not the best. No multiplier values etc.. I ordered the q6600 thinking it was an upgrade so i hope i can get it to at least 2.8 with my half way bios i DLed. Plus i have a stock fan so its not the best cooling

you ordered a q6600? i hope you didnt pay to much, the new ivy bridge pentium's can be had for $50ish and outperform it.

ya the 660 is going to bottleneck you and probably not make your system run much better. Guess you should have asked beforehand what you wanted to do and how much money you had.
For the $250 or so you've already spent, you could have gotten a board,chip,RAM and video card that would have been a lot more balanced.
