Some device to scan just a section of paper

Hello,

We have a lot of papers. Each paper has an ID that is written by hand as shown in drawn:

+--------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Title of Paper
|
| Number ID: <Here comes number to be scanned>
|
| Description: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit,
| sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut
| enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut
| aliquip ex ea commodo consequat. Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit
| in voluptate velit esse cillum dolore eu fugiat nulla pariatur.
|
+--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm just wondering if there is any device that allows me to scan just that ID for each paper and will store those numbers in a text file. Like a bar-code scanner, but in this case that number is not a bar-code.

Thanks

Exact number of papers: 30,400.

It could be a sheet fed document scanner, but I don't know how to setup it in order to scan only that paper area where number appears. Is it possible?

Depends on the specific model, but probably. I know my cheap one sheet at a time flatbed scanner can do that.
