Hi, Found an already built PC from a computer retailer, have been looking for a while for something in the right price range. Have never had a desktop before so havent really a clue on what is good!
It would be used for everday tasks like music and web surfing, but i also want to play games like GTA IV, Battlefield, Sims, Skyrim, Farcry.. With mods.
Yes i would agree with everyone who says to build your own but the time and effort needed to find the best components and build it when theres PCs already made for you!

Anyway for £400 have found a PC with:
Intel I5-3330
Windows 8
8GB RAM
2TB HDD
AMD HD6670
Multi DVD-RW ODD
Memory Card Reader
Unkown PSU

From Ebuyer I found the exact same components which summed up to around £550 with PSU and Case

Would this PC be capable for gaming as described above?

Thanks Everyone!

But other than the GPU, which i can upgrade in the future, would you say for the price it is a good deal?
Thanks

Chances are it has a low end motherboard and a junk PSU. You will have to replace the PSU if you upgrade the GPU. The only reason this might even be considered a good deal is because it comes with Windows. Don't expect to play modern games at anything but low settings until you upgrade it though.

Usually, with budget pre-built systems, one or more components are non-optimal. Just what they need to get rid of at this particular time

Low end GPU, no name (but fancy sounding) PSU, crappy case...
In this case, it is the GPU, and probably the PS.

Building it yourself, you can specify exactly which parts you want. Instead of relying on some marketing department.

Assembling it takes an afternoon.

Well its an advent which is normally £640 but it has been refurbished and is also on offer at the moment, i am only 16 with no job, still doing exams so if i had the money i would spend it on building a pc. But in the future i would upgrade the GPU and Obviously the PSU
Thanks :)

are you looking for something to game with immediately? Everyone's already saying you should self-build, but here's another reason why: you can focus your budget into the GPU (over CPU), which will result in a better gaming experience. What monitor resolution will you be playing at?

Well ive seen monitors at the same size as the cheapest ones but for triple the price :/
I have found some 1920 x 1080?
one has contrast ratio 5000:1, the other has Contrast ratio 10000000:1.
both has response time of 5ms
I dont really have a clue, haha
I've been using laptops and tablets for the past 4 years!

Those numbers are self determined by the manufacturer. There is no real standard or independent testing facility.

I get youth and limited budgets. But often, buying cheap initially costs way more in the long run.
New PSU. new GPU...just to get where you think it should be. And now you're already over the price of a self build, because you've bought some parts (GPU/PSU) twice.

If you need something now, go for it. Just be prepared for its limitations.

Yeah i have heard known computer brands not allow you to change certain components, or changing components cause your windows to corrupt. However everyone has to start somewhere? Did you build your first Pc? :)

damn, how old are? my mum had one like a commodore when she was a kid. Would you recommend buying used parts from ebay? or always new? cause when you upgrade your pc you could sell the parts to get some money back surely? :3

My eldest granddaughter is not much younger than you are....:) Not all of us in here are kids and newbies.

This thing you're using....the internet? We built it.

I'd shy away from used parts on eBay. You don't know the history. And often, the seller doesn't know either.
You can sell them, but I personally wouldn't buy them.

It's not a computer. It's a collection of parts out of their "whatever is cheapest and we need to get rid of" bin.
Next week, they will have the exact same thing, but with one part changed.

I'm pretty sure for ~£550 you can build a MUCH stronger computer than that. Building your own one is the way to go! I'm 14 and I'm building my new pc in a couple of weeks! You get much better parts from building it yourself.
