Hey guys, wondering which would be faster (OC) and quiter and better cooler-
Asus GTX670-dcu2-2gd
or
Msi gtx670 Power edition?
I saw a lot of cons on newegg about asus and a lot of great replies on msi. And in videos i saw that the msi is quiet loud, is it true? Im amazed about asus card becouse on full load it is still quiet. And what are people talking about-Msi cought overvolting they're GPU's! What does that mean?

Thank you

Both companies manufacture a great card. Asus does tend to run a bit quieter than alot of others. Though MSI makes a good card as well, their cooling systems can be slightly louder. Other than that minor difference, you won't see a lot of difference between the 2. If you want to overclock, I understand that MSI and Gigabyte may be better cards for overclocking. If not, then there isn't going to be a lot of difference, and a well insulated PC case will all but eliminate that anyway.

i like asus cooling on the cards, my friend got a asus 670, great buy. I usually choose asus just for their quality alone. Asus also has gpu tweak for gpu overclocking. If not overclocking look at the specs and compare from there. Both have a metal shrouding and good cooling solutions, being said that the asus may be more quiet. Also Msi has "dust removal" mode on their gpus like the 670, that the fans will spin full speed reverse for 30sec and then spin normally after that time period at the default speed or whatever speed its set to

For motherboards, I'd choose Asus over MSI every time; not even close. For graphics cards though, my own experiences with Asus have been 2/4 new-card failures within hours or days of initial use. While a tiny sample, given all the positive comments about MSI's graphics cards, I'd choose MSI.

Not to the point that it would eliminate it from consideration in my mind. One of the guys I am good friends with runs a MSI card...it's not demonstrably louder than my Sapphire HD 7870 XT...

I have heard rumors about some Gigabyte cards now being voltage locked, but I am not sure which ones if any. I haven't been able to verify the information from a reputable source...so I cannot confirm that rumor at this point.

What do you mean by msi OC better? That it is stable in high OC'ing? I cant decide what to get asus gigabyte or msi???????!!!!!!! I need a silent and OC'able and fast card. :D Also, asus have a backplate, and what does a backplate do?
THanks!

My Gigabyte HD7970 just arrived yesterday. With a slight OC to 1100MHz and running flat out (bitmining), it is at 66C this morning and the fans are at 84%. It is remarkably quiet. An XFX downclocked to 900MHz would hit 83C, run its fans around 72%, and they'd be obnoxiously loud.

It just the matter of you prefer stability or better cooling + Silence.

Asus is Direct CU is better cooling and silence than MSI /Gigabyte
MSI / Gigabyte seems to be more stable this is according to consumer statics.
