Hi,

I'm basically done the new PC that I am building, all I need is RAM and an optical drive, and I was wondering if buying an optical drive was necessary. Some people have said that you can just boot Windows 7 and install it from a USB key, and I was wondering how to do that. I have it downloaded as a .iso, and I want to boot it from a USB key and install it from that, so I don't have to spend the extra money on the optical drive if it's not necessary.

Thank you.

I haven't found a need often for a DVD drive, but when I do, I really need it. You can do all the installs via USB (as outlined above).

But if you really need it...$20 for a drive is not a lot. But if you don't need it, there is no reason to get one.
