Encrypt a gaming PC

Hello,
I apologize if this is a stupid question. I am in the process of transitioning from console to PC gaming, and being in the process of building my first PC, I had a question regarding encryption software. On my laptop, I use truecrypt to encrypt my entire HDD. I was wondering if A) PC performance takes a hit for doing this (I know trucrypt uses on the fly encryption) and B) It would be feasible to encypt my drives on my new gaming PC. I really like the idea of keeping all of my info and data VERY hard to access to an outside force, but if performance for games and what not is going to take a hit I will have to do without. Again, I apologize if this is a stupid question I'm new at this and eager to learn.

Thanks,
Justin

Only load times will take a hit, and not by much. It's just some CPU and/or I/O overhead.

You shouldn't be able to notice if you have a decent processor and an SSD. Or you can only encrypt the SSD and use a HDD for games, since they don't need to be encrypted.
