I'm a first time buyer on newegg (except for RAM) and as well as a virgin when it comes to motherboards. I did as much research as I could on at least a dozen motherboards. I know I don't want one too powerful or else my 400w power supply (which can handle a 3.0Ghz computer with no problems) doesn't crap out on me.

But I also want one that my Nvidida Geforce 8600 GTS PCI-E x16 video card will work inside. This motherboard says it has a PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot, and I don't know if that means it can take my card or not. Any help on this would be appreciated, I don't want to waste my money, I work a minimum wage job and don't make that much as it is. The most intensive thing I'd probably do on this computer is either AMV video editing, and World of Warcraft/Fallout NV/War Z gaming.

Good mobo choice. It's a great board for the price. Like ingtar33 said get a FX 6300 instead, it's newer and better and only $10 more. If you want to overclock then get a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. All PCIe slots are backwards compatible. So you can use PCIe 3 with PCIe2 and PCIe2 with PCIe.

Hope this helps,

Ok, but just to make sure. My Nvidia Geforce 8600 GTA PCI-E x16 will be able to work with this motherboard, AND this 6300 processor?

On another note, I have two 2gb DDR2 ram cards. I know this is DDR3 and it probably won't work, but just for sh*ts and giggles, and a slight sliver of hope of a miracle i'll ask anyway, would I be able to use those DDR2 cards?

Yes it will work without any problems. What do you mean by DDR2 ram cards? You mean system memory? If so then no it won't work sorry. If you are talking about the graphics card memory then it will work. Graphics cards need very fast memory speeds thus why modern day GPUs use GDDR5.

I hope this helps,

No problem, always makes me feel good to make someone happy. 8Gb is more than enough for gaming, it's the sweet spot. 1600mhz is pretty much a standard now.

Glad I was able to help you,

Couple more questions. My 400watt power supply will be efficient enough. Does it take VGA (the blue pronged input for monitors; which i guess doesn't matter since i'll be plugging my video card and adapter in, and then the monitor, but wnat to make sure in case card breaks; cause i didn't see a VGA input on the motherboard)

There are 2 ways to get your monitor working. Plug the cable from the monitor into the motherboard or plug the cable from the monitor to the video card. (Graphics card and video cards are the same thing by the way). Based on a quick Google search I found out that the 8600 GTS has 2 DVI and 1 S-Video. The motherboard that you will be buying has a single VGA connector. This means you will have to use a DVI to VGA adapter to plug into your video card which you should be doing. When it does break just plug it into the motherboard while you come back here and ask for another video card suggestion. :p

Hope this helps,

Hey guys I'm back , something is amiss. I installed my motherboard, and everything onto it. Everything works, it turns on, but there's STILL no display from the monitor. The video card works fine because it works in my other computer, so I have no idea what the hell is wrong with this stupid monitor, i just keep getting that floating signal message on the monitor when I turn it on.
