Cannot run command prompt as admin

I've been trying to run the sfc/scannow command but my command prompt keeps shutting down every time i attempt to run as an admin.

Hold shift and right click cmd.exe

cmd.exe is located in: C:\Windows\System32

There will be an option to 'Run as' and as long as you have the admin credentials written down somewhere you should have no problem.

What version of Windows are you using?
