my monitor often gets no signal especially when tuning it on for the first time during every 6 hours. it only gets signal when i reseat the video card or repeatedly force shutdown the pc.(it has beep) so no question whether it is posting.
but when i remove the dvd rom the pc works fine it gets signal it does not have any problem. my question now is why removing the dvd rom gets back signal?

I've gotten a bad rom drive before, and i swapped out every part to find that out. Okay, lets say its the drive causing the issues. Try another to see if that fixes it. Use a different cable, i've bumped into a bad cable as well. Now, in regards to if the computer is booting up when your getting now signal, without known your videocard try the other DVI port or VGA just to see. Hope this helps.

We need more information Molax.

What video card do you have?
What mother board do you have?
What dvd rom drive is it?

If I had to guess, this sounds like a hardware registry in the bios has a conflict between the video card and the dvd rom. I would record my bios settings and do a factory reset, and then retry it.

I would also recommend uninstalling and deleting the drivers for the video card making sure they have been removed from the hard drive, and then reinstalling them.

I would also recommend listening to dormantreigns ideas too. They are good ones.

could it be that the PSU is the problem? just wondering. ihave read from several forum that if monitor is not getting any signal you just remove dvd drive or reseat ram. but i dont get the point why to remove dvd rom.

i'll try what you have told me.
