I have never had luck connecting my graphics card from this current desktop to my Samsung TV. I get artifacts. I was hoping with my new purchase of an AMD Radeon HD 7870 I would be able to enjoy playing some of my windows games on the big TV.

The I5 HP laptop I use and the 15 foot HDMI cord I used works perfectly. Windows looks crystal clear from the laptop to the TV. However, when I try to run the same cord from the 7870 to my Samsung LED TV I get artifacts and the picture shakes. Is this fixable?

I have the latest catalyst 13.3 beta drivers, the latest bios for my motherboard, windows 7 64 bit.

Any ideas?

Check the Catalyst control center.

Is the display set to run at the correct resolution? I would imagine the TV supports 1920x1080p with a refresh rate of 60hz.

Double check these settings for me and post back if you still have any trouble, and I'll see what else I can do.

whoa lol i got once upon a time similar problem... i was connecting my computer via hdmi to my Sony TV it was perfectly working, but with Samsung TV, it had weird colors and some visual disorders even though it was working great with VGA/DVI connector.

then i realized that its about the Samsung's hdmi port nothing else... i believe they have problems while being manufactured.

Thanks for your response. So I tried checking each HDMI slot and in one it worked significantly better than the rest (still minor artifacting). Makes me wonder if its a Samsung thing?

Just a thought but how long is the hdmi cable? I have had issues with a 10 metre hdmi and artifacts and changed the hdmi over to a smaller length and all the problems went away. Had already tried evrything else before this unfortunately and that was to a samsung tv.

edit: Just reread and saw you said it was a 15foot hdmi so apologies. Have you tried a different cable?
