First build need advice

1. Expensive motherboard. Why that motherboard?
2. You don't need more than 8GB for gaming, but if you want 16GB, then it's fine.
3. Get the GTX 670 over GTX 680. It's $100 cheaper and only marginally weaker. Alternatively, Radeon HD 7970 is the same price as GTX 670 and is better than both the GTX 670 and GTX 680.

680 is a waste unless you enjoy throwing a trojan magnum xxl over your epeen, all it is for is bragging rights.

In honesty save the $100 and get a 670 or 7970 ghz. Both amazing and you won't be disappointed.

With regards to the motherboard it was just what was jumping out at me at the time, the graphic card suggestion does sound interesting. I guess my next question would be what mobo would you go with and why, and also if im going to free up 150 in the build...where should i put that money ?

Here's what I would do.

Total: $1450.77
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

You really don't need 256GB of SSD. I guess it depends how fast you fill up a 120GB. You really shouldn't save everything on a SSD. It's mainly just for the OS and maybe some apps that you really need to boot up fast. You can save an extra $150 or so there. I left it as is.

given these suggestions it comes in under the 1700.00 budget, I am planning on spending the whole 1700.00 where in your build would you put that extra money if you were given the option?
