Useful old server?

Found an old server at work in a junk pile it's a m2r32 MVP board and 580x processor 4gigs of ram 250gb hard drive x3 firepro v3700 graphics card they said I could take it or toss it any good uses for this or too ancient to be useful?

Depends on the game. Older games it may do alright. I wouldn't bet on it being able to run newer games very well. Keep in mind most server processors are designed for multi-tasking. To keep up with all the work demands it gets from client computers. Gaming tends to lean hard on less mult-tasking but faster cpu cycles. A lot of times you'll see server CPUs clocked around 1.8-2.4 ghz but they're quad core, or more, with hyper threading. Also, the RAM is probably ECC (specializes in error correction) memory so it will probably run slower. I'm not saying it can't be re-purposed as a guest gaming computer at your home but just keep that in mind.

Outside of gaming it does have a lot of uses as others have said.
