Hello,

I am new to building computers and need some help choosing RAM. I choose the ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE as my MoBo ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131818 ) and need help finding 16gb of RAm to go along with it.

I have heard that it is easier to upgrade if you have 2x8gb sticks of RAM but in the qualified vendor list, I did not find that option under the 1600 MHz speed. I did find that the following sticks of RAM are qualified.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145347

How do these perform? Any good reviews to read? What is the difference between 4*4 and 2*8 sticks of RAM?

Any other helpful tips would be great. The rest of my build so far include:

Intel Core i7-3770K
ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE
CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3 1600
EVGA NVIDIA GTX680 2GB overclocked
NZXT Phanton 630 - Matte Black

I need the rest of the pieces. Thanks in advance!

P.S.: This is a gaming computer so maybe 16 gbs might not be needed.

For a gamer, 16GB is a bit on the high side - 8GB seems to be just right. There should be no performance decrease from using 8GB of ram. Things that affect performance are frequency (speed - ie. 1600MHz - higher is better) and timings (quickness - ie. 9-9-9-24 - lower is better). How much ram is used is determined by how much 'junk' is running in the background - the use of custom expansion packs adds to that. The Corsair Vengeance kit should work but I'd personally be looking at 2x4GB.
We'll need to get you on a decent PSU also, where are you shopping? What is your budget for remaining parts

My budget is about 2200 not including peripherals. Obviously the lower price the better. How will I know if the ram will clear the cooler without buying it? Any PSU recommendations? Thanks.

If your building strictly a gaming computer then you can make some changes to save some money and use it in other places.
First it's not necessary to have 16gb of ram unless you need it for something else besides gaming. Next you don't need a i7-3770k and you can get a i5-3570k and get just as good performance and overclocking. The motherboard can also be a lower model, ASUS P8Z77-V LGA and give you as good a selection of options.

The money saved from these changes can go towards a solid PSU.

Then you can get two GTX 670s;

Then you'll have a powerful gaming rig.
