I use hardwire mostly so I am not really concerned about the wireless aspect of it so much cause this will be a basicnetwork 1 office computer and maybe a laptop or two. office pc will be on a cat5 cable and was wondering for it if these two devices below are any different as far as security goes for my usage. also internet speed is 30mb here from my isp id like the best security possible but thers no need for vpn's

The biggest difference between the two routers is 1GB connectivity on the Zytel Router vs. 100MB for the Netgear. Both have close to the same firewall protections. If you have a router provided by your ISP, you may only need a desktop switch, as their router may have the firewall built-in. A 1GB desktop switch runs $20-30....

What is the make/model of the modem/router provided by your ISP?

The main differences are:
The expensive one supports Wireless N
The cheap one is Wireless b/g only

The expensive one has 4 x 10/100/1000 LAN
The cheap one only has 4 x 10/100M LAN

Security-wise, both pretty much the same. WPA2-AES (which is what you should be using)

I'd go with the ZyXEL or something similar from another maker. The listed Netgear is an older model.
