How do I know what HD I should buy?

I have a Toshiba Satellite P750 Customized laptop with a fried hard drive. I have a buddy who can install one when I get it. How would I find out what brand is in it, and if I can put a 10,000 RPM in it, etc?

Laptop hd generally run at 5400rmp. WD has 10rpm 2.5 form hd but they are usually to thick and produce too much heat for laptops. when used in desk tops they have a heatsink attached. If you are looking for more performance look at the Seagate XT hybrid hds.
