How to get volume on laptop when using hdmi cord?

Well I am using an hdmi cord to connect my laptop and tv on my desk and I was wondering why I only get volume from the tv.

Is there no way around this, please advise. :)

I did something like this when I would watch movies from my laptop. Right click on the speaker (bottom right) and click "Playback devices." When the window opens, you should see a couple playback devices (speaker and HDMI sound) in the box. Right click and disable the HDMI sound and enable speakers. I think that is what I did. If that doesn't work, let me know. I'll connect my laptop to my tv real quick.
