Help! First Build. How does this look?

Whats going on guys.

I want to really get under $650 dollars but i know that is hard to do with the intel build. So, if somebody could come up with at AMD build that rivals the benchmarks from the current build that would be great, and of course lets make sure that its less money lol. I want to play games on it. I am not a hardcore gamer but i do enjoy them . Mainly i want to play GTA IV, War Thunder, Ghost Recon and other games not yet found to be awesome. But anyway here is my build

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Murk/saved/1vYV

I just want to know if there is somewhere that i can save money. Maybe a case or something im not sure. Remember i'm a noob so help me and not be too techincal. I don't mind spending the $750 just want to save if i can.

I keep updating and starting new post because basically I really dont want to make hasty decisions about this build. I want to be well informed and make good decisions about what it is that i am trying to build.

So with that said remember that i already have storage devices. I have found out that they are SATA not IDE. I was told that the IDE's are not good for modern computers. For convience here are the 4 that I will use.

Seagate Momentus 5400.6 250 GB disk drive (snatched it from an old PS3 I had)
Toshiba Disk Drive MK1255GSX 120 GB and a
Western Digital WD800BEVT 80 GB Disk Drive.
Hitachi N13508 E182115 60GB HDD
Thanks a lot guys. You all have been really helpful!

Change your PSU to Corsair , I highly discourage you in getting anything XFX, they have really rubbish customer service. Took them two weeks to reply back to me about registering one of my GPU's. Also use a proper SATA drive, don't be cheap and scavenge little 60GB drives...they're slow for your PC. Get a Seagate Barracuda 1TB drive.

^^ like he says change to corsair. also if you want to overclock then you should need a good cooler, but i didn't see any cooler on your build. but if you dont want to OC then switch back to cheaper non k processor. also change mobo to non "Z68" chipset. other than that your good to go.

So i did what you said and my cost is higher. AHHHH. What can i do to lower the cost. Should I go AMD or something?

Could you suggest one maybe. I'm not totally sure why the Z68 is "bad". When i read up on it. The guys stated that it was good for switching between tasks or something to that effect. What should i use. No i wont be overclocking. Maybe one day but not with this build im sure. "Non K processor." I don't even know what that means. Man Im sorry for the noobness.

Thanks btw.

This is $622 http://pcpartpicker.com/p/T7DQ
Some things can be switched around to suit your preferences but the main change is the 7850 rather than the 660 and the non-k i5-3330.
IMO this is a better compromise than switching to an AMD build. It will still play all games (ranging from high to medium @ 1080p).

If you want better upgradeability, get a better PSU than I listed (but the one I listed is fine for those components). The XFX one you picked is a very good quality PSU. It's true that XFX's customer support is pretty bad but it's not that likely you will need to RMA it.

I also agree that you should get a new hdd. Those ones you listed are old and slow.

You could save some money on the case too. There are some decent $49 cases out there.

edit:
K series processors (like the i5-2500k) can be overclocked. This is basically running them faster and hotter than they were meant to be run. It requires a decent CPU cooler and some learning but it basically gives you free speed. Since you are on a tight budget though, just go with a cheaper non-k cpu.

Z68 chipset is for 2nd generation intel core processors. im not sure.and in intel generally a K after their model means it has an unlocked multiplier thus means its overclockable. and non k means others that cant be overclocked.so your off with any other processor without the k after the model like your '2500K'.you can just google motherboadrs with "LGA 1156" socket. or you can switch to 3rd gen intel i5 processors and ofcourse "non k" version.and for 3rd gen intel i5 processors like i5-3350P your better off with H77 mother boards.

=======================================================================

Yea i just read up on the difference between the two. I will look up the difference between the CPU you suggested and the 2500k. I dont intend to OC so if its cheaper then i should go that route. I have heard that the ANTEC PSU are really good. I hate poor customer service. Its the scourge of the earth and why our government sucks. They have horrible customer service lol. But thats another forum. I may choose the Antec or the corsair I have heard good things about both.

This build looks really good. I looked at the MOBO and saw that it still had the SATA 3 connections as well as the SATA 6. Also it has 32 GB of memory space. Awesome. Umm I noticed that you did not include a storage unit. Im assuming that the Seagate Barricuda that I put on the updated system would work well. I will work your specs around and see if I can make it work for what I like. I really like the idea of saving $100 odd dollars. Im not hardcore gamer but i do want a nice system to play modern games. This one looks like it could achieve that.

Thank You Bro I appreciate it.

Socket types (LGA):
Both 2nd and 3rd gen i-series cpus (i5-2xxx is second gen, i5-3xxx is third gen) are LGA 1155.
LGA 1156 is for first gen i-series cpus (i5-xxx <-three digits).

Chipsets:
Z68 was introduced with the second gen i-series CPUs. Most Z68 boards are also compatable with third gen i-series cpus as well.
Z77 was introduced with the third gen i-series CPUs.
For more chipset info refer to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_chipsets#LGA_1155

Not to stop you from reading up on it (I always encourage it) but the i5-3330 is a third gen i5 clocked slightly slower than the second gen i5-2500k (300mhz). However, since the third gen is slightly faster per mhz, the difference will be nearly inconsequential. Other than that, you can't OC it. Also it uses less power.

As to the HDD, I recommend this one http://pcpartpicker.com/part/western-digital-internal-hard-drive-wd5000aakx
But the barracuda works too. Not sure what your size requirements are but 500GB sounds like a good place to start.

edit:
For PSUs, brand preference is a bit flawed. There are 3 manufacturers that make all decent PSUs (90% of them are Seasonic) and everyone buys from them and rebrands them. Neither Corsair, Antec nor XFX make their own, they just stick them in a pretty box with a brand name on it. This means that you have to review each model rather than each company. The only thing the company tells you how good the support will be. But, if you're buying a decent PSU, it should either arrive DOA (in which case you return it to newegg) or it should last for the full warranty period. It's fairly rare that (compared to the other components) that a good PSU will die on you mid warranty (though it can and does happen).

Ok here we go i have done some research and happened upon this site. CPUBOSS.com. They have a lot of good information on here. Not that I understand most of it but i can get a good general idea of how things stack up against each other. So, with that I present this.

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Murk/saved/1wac

Let me know what you think. I think I found a nice tower. I did downgrade on the memory I don't need a terabyte of space. Probably don't need 500GB to be honest. That MOBO saved me like $5 dollars and I switched memory I mainly wanted 1600. I looked at the CPU and found that the 3550 runs nicely against the 2500. But Im not sold. I wanna know what you guys think.

P.S. I posted this same question on Teksyndicate. com and did not receive nearly the amount of help i received here. Thanks a lot man you guys rock.

now the build looks good but the price is like 700$. to save you some cash i suggest buying a H77 mobo as you wont be overclocking and put that cash into a more capable GPU or just save it for yourself. you maybe able save 10$ or more on a H77 mobo, MSI H77MA-G43 mobo is about 80$ though it only supports crossfire not SLI

I wish i was more knowledgeable about the mobo's but im not and honestly $10 means nothing. If the H77 however does grant me a better whatever then cool if not I don't really care. Now, what i do care about is the performance of the GPU on games like GTA IV. Do you know if that particular GPU is a good one, or rather, able to handle the stresses that GTA IV, and games like it, will put on the GPU.

When i started I had a system that was 83.11 more expensive according to part picker. And maybe even more cause I will search every nook and cranny of this fat lady called the internet to get the best price. I feel like I got smarter. Help me out with this Mobo thing though. Does it matter if I switch to H77 or stick with the LGA1155.

Isnt SLI just for situations where you will be using multiple video cards. Whats the difference between SLI and Crossfire. I always want to save a buck!

yeh SLI and crossfire is the same thing with different names.like you get 660 this year and next year price is lower and you want performance boost you just add another 660. same thing with radeons. and also H77 is almost the same thing as Z77 mobo's but you can't overclock them. and and if you want to stay with Z77 thats also good as you wont get any better GPU with 10$ upgrade.and your Geforce GTX 660 is a nice card. can run GTA IV at max i think.so your better off with the current config's. stick with the Z77 mobo. and also LGA 1155 is a socket, its what the CPU sit's on. and chipset links your memory, PCI e slot or GFX card to the CPU well actually the north bridge chipset does it. don't get them confused.

Slow motion basically means, take it slow in your life. Take care of this moment and the next. Basically a salutation like have a good day or keep your head up.

Q: Hows your day going?
A: Slow motion day to day Brother. How about you? Take it easy.
A2A: Slow motion better than no motion. I'm straight. Be easy as well Bro.
