Hi I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me out. I am planning to build a pc for my family under US$500, including the monitor. I live in New Zealand so prices differ slightly, but are approximately the same. Also, the cheaper the better . Correct me if I do anything wrong:
Approximate Purchase Date: within 2 weeks
Budget Range: US$500 Before Rebates & shipping
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Surfing the internet, playing browser-based games (e.g. Moshi Monsters, Stardoll, Addictinggames, etc.), word processing, listening to music, watching movies
Are you buying a monitor: Yes
Do you need to buy OS: No, have 3-user licence
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Just use pcpartpicker.com so I can get rough estimates
Location: Auckland, New Zealand
Parts Preferences: Sort of think I should get an AMD APU for the budget instead of purchasing a separate gpu
Overclocking: No
SLI or Crossfire: No, not planning to drop money on a gpu currently
Additional Comments: Would like to have a relatively quiet PC, with a small tower (i.e. one thats maximum motherboard size is micro-atx). Also planning to be used for at least 3 years without any upgrades, if possible. Also planning to include the following parts:
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($64.99 @ Newegg)
Going to use this in my own build, and give them my strontium 8gb (2x4gb) ddr3-1333 ram.
Storage: Samsung 840 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($89.99 @ NCIX US)
Set on using this as main storage.
Wireless Network Adapter: TP-Link TL-WN881ND 802.11b/g/n PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter ($24.99 @ Amazon)
Set on using this for networking.
Monitor: Samsung S20B300B 60Hz 20.0" Monitor ($129.99 @ Amazon)
Set on using this as monitor.
