I'm a CCTV installer and need to connect a CCTV-DVR stand alone in an outbuilding to the office in the main house, so that the DVR can be monitored and operated from there. The outbuilding has no internet or any other connections. Distance is ca 120meters.
Would it work with a Cat5 Ethernet connection to the home office LAN network? Or with Wi Fi ? Or with a 3g-router?
Thank you for your help/advice.

Cat5 is supposed to run about 100 meters between active devices [read powered].
If you have a point where you can install an active device and then continue the cat5, that would work just a switch, but you need power at that point. Wireless may work depends on the environment. metal roofs/siding has a tendency to ground the rf and "suck"" it out of the air making it less useful, concrete deflects is, etc. So depending on what is in the path, it may or may not work.

I’d go for wi-fi but then, just like what wacabletech said, it will depend on the environment. Make sure nothing interferes or blocks the signal. :)
