have a Toshiba Qosmio x870-144. It has a 128GB SSD and a 1TB 5400 RPM HDD. I have a spare Seagate 750GB Hybrid 7200rpm.

Can I replace the 1TB HDD with the Seagate?
Will I get better performance?
Can the laptop handle this combination of SSD and Hybrid drive?

If the Hybrid is the correct size to fit the laptop yeah sure it'll be better than the 1TB

thank you for your answer! if this is the only problem then no problem its acceptable!!

Should be fine. That said:
1) Should get a performance gain primarily because of moving from a 5400 RPM drive to a 7200 RPM drive. This cuts access time and increases sustained throughput.
2) The Small 8 gig SSD (Cache) gains would be highly dependent on individual user. The Hybrid drives are primarily designed to provide a decreased Boot time simular to a SSD while also allowing for grater storage space. When used as a storage drive, performance gains will ONLY apply if you repedatively access the same file. They will have a small penitly if the file is not in the cache as when you make a dequest for a given file it will first check the cache to see if it is there (wasted time if NOT in cache) - But this is more than compensated for by increased Drive RPMs.

Bottom Line - Good idea as long as the extra 250 Gigs is not needed, normaly not.

if the cashe is 32MB on the sshd and 64MB on the HDD does it change nything?

???? Not sure what you are asking.
But You do NOT cache a SSD. The Hybrid HHD already contains a 8 GIG Cache, so using 64 mbs of your SSD to cache the CACHE on the HDD would NOT improve the performance of a Hybrid HHD.
INfact The 64 mb cache for your OLD 1TB drive would have some, but very limited, performance gain.

WHAT I WAS MEANING IS THAT THE ! tb 5400RPM HAS A 64mb cashe while the hybrid one (i suppose the mechanical part)has a 32Mb cashe
