need help deciding between 670 and 680

hi there im trying to figure out what card to get and i cant really decide on the 670 or the 680. the cards i was considering was :
1. GTX 670 FTW
2. GTX 680 SC Sig 2
3. GTX 680 FTW

Im playing on a 32inch vizio 1920x1080p single monitor and dont have any plans on having more than one screen at the moment. i want to run all games at max or very high settings for atleast 2 maybe 3 yrs. i want something now that will max out games and if need be do sli with them for years to come. i have a asus p8z77-v mobo so i can go up to 3-way sli for now. so basically which one will offer best price/performance at max setting 2-3 yrs for now and sli future.

but what about downthe road 2-3 yrs u still think a 670 single and sli could still max out games? also what about cuda cores dont really understand but 670 has like 1300 while 680 has 1500.

ive looked into it but i cant find a card i like and cant really find good reviews on them. the only only one that peaked my interest was the sapphire vapor-x 7970 but most of the 7970 cards i wanted were out of stock from the big retailers and the smaller retailers the price tag was to much about the same if not a tad under a gtx 680.

thanks chromic gave me something to look more into and making it a tad bit harder on deciding.lol i havent look at 7970 cards in a month or 2 to see if they were in stoc yet or not busy buying my custom water cooling unit.
